Ulaanbaatar Capital City
Ulaanbaatar City is a good starting point for almost every tourist. The city is growing outwards towards west and east. Also becoming a quite crowded in downtown area. Many fancy tall buildings are constructed in Ulaanbaatar City. Our visit to Ulaanbaatar begins with Chinggis Square. In 2013 the City authorities have changed the name of the square Sukhbaatar to Chinggis. There is much beautiful architecture surrounding the square, in the western side Ulaanbaatar City administration building, the headquarters of Golomt bank, Mongolian stock exchange, and Mongolian telecommunications building. On the eastern side Central Cultural palace building, State ballet and Opera house, Central tower. More importantly on the north side there is Mongolian government house and Chinggis Khaan memorial which is located right front of government house. Before leaving main square, we should not miss a visit to the National historical museum in which the most important collection of national historical exhibits. It gives an overview of Mongolian history from ancient Hunnu ages. The next museum is located north of Government house, Natural history museum. The most highlight in this museum is 4 meters high, 12 meters long Tarbosaurus and dinosaur egg. And also Mongolian last king’s Bogd palace museum. Finally, the Gandan monastery is one of the biggest Buddhist institutions. To sum up climb up to World War 2 Russian memorial complex “Zaisan hill”, you will see the entire city from perfect spot and introduced by the historical monuments.
